Information for Voters

The next regular municipal election for East Hawkesbury Township will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026. During this election, residents will vote to elect a Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors, and school board trustees. These representatives will be responsible for making important decisions that impact the community, local services, and the direction of both the Township and its school boards.

Check your information in advance! Visit Elections Ontario’s Voter Registration Service to confirm, update, or add your information for the upcoming municipal election. 

After August 12, 2026, electors will need to contact the Municipality directly to register or update their information.

Voting 

The Voting Period will be held October 21 to 26, 2026. You can vote anytime starting October 21 at 9:00 a.m. ending October 26 at 8:00 p.m.

You can vote in the 2026 Municipal Council and School Board Elections if you are:

  • a Canadian citizen; and 
  • 18 years of age or older; and
  • a resident of The Township of East Hawkesbury; or
  • non-resident who is, or whose spouse is, an owner or tenant of land in The Township of East Hawkesbury; and
  • not prohibited from voting under section 17 (3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, contact the Clerk's Office. The Clerk's Office must confirm eligibility before adding a name to the voters’ list.

Voter Information Letters will be mailed by first-class mail to all Electors to enable them to use the telephone/Internet voting service.

There are two ways that you can vote:

Accessing the Internet address provided on the Voter Information Letter by using a high-speed connection;

Attending a Voter Help Centre during the following dates and times. Computers will be available The Voter Help Centre shall be established at 5151 County Rd 14, St-Eugene, K0B 1P0 Ontario and shall be open to the public on the following dates and times,and times as determined by the Clerk:

School Support Designation

To ensure the correct school support designation is provided to Elections Ontario for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections, it should be reviewed and, if necessary, updated by June 1, 2026.

All property owners in Ontario are required to designate school support, even if they do not have children or if their children are not currently attending school. By default, school support is directed to the English Public school board unless an alternative designation has been selected.
